A true story OF 6 GENERATIONS
YESTERDAY, TODAY and TOMORROW…
Over 130 years ago, Léon Vanlancker opened a small 5-table restaurant in Rue des Bouchers.
Since then, subsequent generations have worked hard to expand the family business.
Today, Kevin Vanlancker continues his grandfather’s work and preserves the family tradition.

A family, a first name... a tradition!
This restaurant, in its simplicity, its direct, warm welcome and its charming atmosphere has won the hearts of its clientèle and become a landmark destination for foodies. In 1867, Léon Vanlancker set himself up to run a restaurant named “A la Ville d’Anvers” before re-launching, a few years later under his own name, the restaurant that was to become a symbol of Belgian cuisine.
There are a whole host of anecdotes about this popular restaurant, which has welcomed personalities of the political, cultural and financial world, as well as members of the Belgian Royal Family.
All come to enjoy the restaurant’s signature mussel dishes. Lobster, fish and meat dishes are also featured on the menu, but those in the know always favour the “Moules Marinières Spéciales”, an almost secret recipe served with chips and a delicious LEON beer.

The soul of the establishment
In 2006, the Veulemans family sold the business. The restaurant experienced a number of tricky years before being taken on in 2018 by Rudy Vanlancker, owner of Chez Léon, another Brussels institution in the quarter.
In our dining rooms that can accommodate 15–150 people, we also cater for both private receptions and business dinners.
